New ways of storytelling
How can we utilize technology to enhance the experience of a live theater production? Incorporating AR and XR technology into real life visual experiences allows artists to do things that were previously unheard of.
What would you create if the possibilities were endless?
Augmented reality allows the use of special effects that would otherwise only be possible in film. Entirely artificial environments, with fire-breathing beasts, and flying objects that can be experienced by simply putting on na headset. The headset allows these effects to be visible alongside real-time actors on the stage.
Zanni- a company created by David Rodrigues, set out to create a first of its kind AR headset inspired by opera goggles. David’s ambitious vision is an intersection of his great two passions- technology and the performing arts.
Form inspiration
The entire concept of form was based on the initial inspiration of opera glasses. This decision implies certain visual guidelines, such as an elongated handle and repeated circular features.
These discussions are a crucial part to coming up with a final solution. The progression of new and derivative ideas can lead you to an exciting, unexpected place.
User Experience
The goggles are only worn for certain parts of the performance, therefore; there was no need to develop a hands-free headband system that is often used with Virtual Reality sets. This allowed us to stay true to the opera glasses, and focus on the ergonomics of the handle.
Inspired by an age-old craft
This proposed design is inspired by the tradition of Mexican craftsmanship. Barro Negro is a type of naturally black clay native to Mexico. This material holds a valuable place in the rich world of its country’s art world. We took inspiration from this amazing medium, and translated it into a sleek and modern vessel.
The soul of an iconoclast
The history of Mexico is written by the bold. A revolution evokes a juxtaposition of beauty, love, bravery, patriotism, acts of disobedience, and a feeling of anticipation. We set out to design a bottle, which through its interesting use of material contrasts, symbolizes beauty, tension, and monumentality.
A look within
Inspired by minimal anthropomorphic objects attributed to ancient Mexican cultures. Their meaning is vague, but their hypnotizing natures has intrigued humans for centuries. These modernized, simplified forms make an unforgettable bottle.
