Translating abstract into literal

Creating a lifestyle product presents a unique set of exciting challenges. How can a single product embody a specific way of life?

On a surface level, Artet is a cannabis-infused beverage, but the founders’ vision was to incorporate cannabis into the sophisticated tradition of aperitif. For cocktail mixing, instead of using well-known traditional alcoholic bevarages such as Aperol, Artet offers an alcohol-free alternative by incorporating cannabis. It’s a modern twist on the aperetivo culture.

Zach Spohler set out a goal of crating a family of products that can tell the story of aperitivo and cannabis in more ways than through beverage alone. How could the brand’s sophisticated aesthetic translate into objects such as art, home goods, and apparel?

Artet’s strong sense of aesthetic was an important part of our explorations. Understated retro sophistication with a touch of color and modern sensibility.

Product Physicality

We started our process by exploring where we want this object to live within the user’s home. How will it make you feel? What mood does it evoke? A candle seemed like an ideal choice. What else goes this well with a relaxing cocktail at the end of a busy week? A flickering flame and its soothing, warm glow serves to elevate the aperitivo.

On to the Form

After exploring different aesthetic territories, we settled on a curvilinear, smooth, and sculptural form story.

After tweaking the candle’s curvature and adapting the form’s color to reflect the brand’s image, The Spark was born.

The candle is made from 51% beeswax for a gentle burn.
